Mechanism

Glutathione (γ-L-glutamyl-L-cysteinylglycine) is the cell's primary antioxidant, produced endogenously in the liver. It neutralizes reactive oxygen species, supports phase II hepatic detoxification, and maintains the redox balance required for immune function. IV and IM delivery bypasses gut degradation of oral forms.

Regulatory status

Glutathione is a naturally occurring tripeptide eligible for 503A compounding. Injectable formulations are prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies.
